Acid House is a sub-genre of the Music House born in Chicago during the second half of the 1980s and subsequently also broadcast in England. It originated in a youthful and cultural movement inspired by the hippie ideology of the years 1960-1970, whose ideal was a society out of every norm and rule.

The style, distinct for repetitive and hypnotic sounds and often using sampling and vocal lines, is not very dissimilar to Trance music, though slower than the latter. Musical, the Acid House, which has been successful in rave and English venues, is characterized by a Roland TB-303 synthesizer that "dilates" and makes "sounds" the sounds of house music.
